ABOUT THE DIRECTORS

Michelle and Julian De Las Nieves are professional salsa dancers, choreographers, and directors based in Boston, Massachusetts. Michelle, born and raised in Michigan, and Julian, a Massachusetts native, bring their unique backgrounds, styles, and energy together to create a dynamic partnership. Known for their smooth connection, chemistry, and engaging teaching style, they specialize in New York-style salsa on2.

In 2021, they founded Querencia Dance Company, which has since grown to more than 95 dancers across six teams. Through Querencia, Michelle and Julian have become an integral part of Boston’s salsa community, building a space centered around artistry, growth, and connection.

Their mission extends beyond the dance floor: they are passionate about elevating Latin dance, increasing its visibility on global stages, and bringing the art form into more mainstream spaces.
